About ESCO

Energy Seminar and Competition (ESCO) is one of the annual flagship programs organized by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta Student Chapter. It is an academic event designed for university students who are interested in geoscience, energy, and the oil and gas industry. ESCO features scientific competitions and a national seminar as its main activities.

Energy Paper & Poster Competition

The Energy Paper and Poster Competition is one of the events in the Energy Seminar and Competition (ESCO) 2026. This national-level competition invites undergraduate students to showcase their scientific insight and analytical skills in Earth Sciences through the development of innovative papers and posters based on selected themes and sub-themes. Conducted in teams of three, participants will compete through several stages, culminating in an offline final presentation. Through this competition, students are encouraged to explore current energy challenges, strengthen their research capabilities, and contribute innovative ideas to the advancement of the energy sector.

The Geosmart Competition is one of the events in the Energy Seminar and Competition (ESCO) 2026. This competition is designed to foster greater interest and broaden the knowledge of undergraduate students in the field of Earth Sciences. Conducted in a team-based format, each team consists of three participants who will compete through a series of challenging and engaging stages. Through this competition, participants are expected to enhance their academic competencies, strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and deepen their understanding of geoscience concepts

Petroleum Exploration Competition

The Petroleum Exploration Competition is one of the events in the Energy Seminar and Competition (ESCO) 2026. This national-level competition challenges undergraduate students to apply their knowledge and analytical skills in the Earth Sciences through the interpretation of seismic and well log data. Conducted in teams of three, participants will analyze exploration datasets, develop technical reports, and present their findings through a series of competitive stages, culminating in an offline final presentation. Through this competition, students are encouraged to strengthen their interpretation and analytical skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and scientific communication abilities in the field of petroleum exploration.
